In the heart of the westbound Highlands, Kaingnty is one of the first main highland towns to grace this region. Here, the enchanting aroma of Konkua's coffee originates from the smallholder gardens in two distinct districts: Konkug Oking, located near Kaingnty, and the remote community of Oburg Wonengrg, a few hours to the south.
A dedicated group of 137 smallholders from these two communities collectively cultivate an impressive 313 hectares of coffee plants. Despite their humble sizes, both Konkug Oking and Okurg Wonenarg have earned national recognition in Papua New Guinea's coffee industry for their exceptional quality. This reputation was solidified when they triumphed in a prestigious national cupping competition in 2015. These determined smallholder groups have truly carved out a name for themselves in the world of coffee.
